Attachment is a deep and long-lasting relationship that develops between an infant and primary caregiver, usually a mother, in the early years.
Without an infant's needs for nurturing and comfort met, infants will not thrive.
Join Dr. Jill Franks, Ph.D., and Special Guest speaker, Annette Kussin, Author, Certified Social Worker, and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist as they discuss how over time, infants form attachments while interacting with their caregivers and how these experiences will hold expectations of relationships, beliefs about oneself and perceptions of others.
About the speaker:
Annette Kussin is an Author, Certified Social Worker, and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked in Children's Mental Health for much of her career as a therapist and Clinical Director. In the many years of practicing therapy, she has offered individual, couple, and family therapy specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, Trauma, and Attachment.
For the past 20 years, she has specialized in Trauma and Attachment Theory offering assessments and therapy to families with adopted children and families struggling with their children. She has developed a model of Attachment-Focused Therapy for adults struggling with intimacy and for couples with relationship problems. She believes this model of therapy is very effective in helping people to feel good about themselves, to accept their limitations, and to improve their emotional capacity to develop mutually satisfying relationships. She also offers therapy for adolescents and their families with problems, from an Attachment perspective.
She believes it is important to understand your early childhood experiences and how these have impacted your personality, your relationships, and your parenting in order to change your present challenges.
